Violence. The senseless act that so many have come to glorify and fallen victim to has taken someone's son, a confidant, cousin, grandson, nephew, true soldier. A person that I grew to admire and respected as a man. Lars Stiaes. Excuse my punctuation and expression because I'm dealing with a lot at the moment. This was a friend a mine that I've known damn-near my entire life. From the moment I walked into Mr. Dominick(R.I.P.)'s 3rd grade class at Hynes Elementary until the night he was called home we stayed in touch. From elementary then on, we called each other cousins, had everyone believing it. So close that our cousins started calling each other cousins. We used to think we was Ma$e and Puffy lol. Smh we spent so much time in the principal's office together back then. We ended up going to the same high school. While he was at war we still talked whenever he had the chance. I was so excited when he returned from Afghanistan and that we linked back up. I am blessed to have had him in my life. I just knew that whenever he was around, where we went, I was straight, he wouldn't let anything happen to me, I could be care-free. I used to call him "G.I. Joe". We'd watch military movies, and he'd always pick out what was fabricated or how it would really go down. I'd let him talk to me about the war whenever it crossed his mind. We used to talk every morning. When we were together we were inseparable. I remember when my license was suspended this summer, I used to go get him, then he'd drive where ever we needed to be so I wouldn't get into any hassle with the police. We sat there at his cousin Mula's old house and got tatted a bunch of times. I don't know if he was into music but because Mula and myself have that dream, he gave it his all just to show his support. I'm glad I'll always be able to hear his voice even if this dream of being a musician is a hopeless one. At one point he deleted his facebook, he said "I dont want to be remembered like this!" That had to be 3 or 4 months before he got back in school because when I went to see him at his new apartment he was telling how he got back on it, and I made a notion, "oh yeah, u got a new one but u not my friend on there, how you rockin?" he went into his phone immediately to add me. My niece knew him as the cool guy that always matched his shirt with his shoes and she gave him a hug everytime she saw him. I just have to get these memories out because its hurting. I could tell you alot of crazy times me and this guy had, but you wouldn't want to read it all. I was a loyal friend and he was loyal to me. I'm honored to have known him and I'm honored to be able to give him his final walk. He was like a guardian on earth for me, so I know he most definitely is a guardian in the sky. I keep telling myself I have to be strong for Mula and Ms. Shelly. R.I.P. I miss you my brother.
